7 Easy Tips to Get Additional Traffic to Your Blog
December 1, 2022
According to the Digital Overview of 2022, the modern internet user spends, on average, 3 hours & 42 minutes per day online and because of that a new challenge has emerged for bloggers: to catch the readers’ eye on a sea of available content. To get people to read your blog is both an art and a science, but we will provide you with seven easy tips on how to get more traffic to your page:
- Write, write and write some more!
It might seem obvious, but our first tip for you is to write more. Studies show that the more often you update your blog, the more traffic it will receive. Google gives higher priority to websites with fresh content, so if you want to get more attention from the search engines, update your blog regularly. Simple, yet effective.
- Know your audience
- Think of catchy titles
- Select impactful images
- Start thinking of basic SEO
- Include strong links in your posts and try to think about external link building
- Promote, share, and get your content noticed!
Regarding content, the best advice is to know who your target audience is, what they want to read and what specific messages you want to convey. What are you interested in writing about? What are your expertises? Is it traveling tips? Is it business-related? Are you a workfluencer? It doesn’t matter, as long as you stick to your own niche.
Post titles are almost as important as the posts themselves. The reason for that is that titles help potential readers decide if they should pursue a topic further, click and follow the link, and read more. Titles are also crucial for SEO (Search Engine Optimization), as we will see below.
Studies have shown that photos in blog posts boost readership. Not only does a photo make the post more visually appealing, but you can also include keywords in the Alt Image tag on the photo, boosting search engine optimization (SEO) for your site. Just respect copy-right regulations and you will be good to go.
And speaking of SEO, there are a few easy steps you can take to improve your ranking on Google. First, make sure you’re matching search intent. Google aims to provide users with the most relevant results for their queries. So if you want to rank high and get more search traffic, you need to be the most relevant result—and that means creating content that aligns with search intent.
For blog posts, that usually means thinking of content format – how-tos, listicles, news articles, opinion pieces, or reviews – and key-words.
For posts, this usually means thinking about two things: the format of the content – ‘how-to’ articles, listicles, news pieces, ep-eds or reviews – and keywords. The first part, the format, is a bit easier to explain– see what the trend is for a certain subject in the search networks and follow the pattern. For example, if the top results for “top vacation destinations 2022” were all lists, the obvious thing to do to rank higher would be to also do a listicle.
Keywords are at the heart of SEO. One of the easiest ways to generate more traffic to your website is to ensure that every blog post you write has a key-word strategy. My suggestion: choose one phrase that you believe readers would use to find that post and incorporate it into the title of the post, the headline on the page, within the content on the page at least two or three times, in a featured image on the page and as part of the page link.
Another important part of SEO is linking work. You can do this in two ways. First, including links in your posts, whether internal or external.
External links are less obvious, but they can help the blog grow. When mentioning a stronger product or company in a blog post, include a link to that company’s page. Google itself likes what we call outbound links on your site, but – in addition – the company you mentioned may also notice your post and give your blog an extra mention online. Also, readers appreciate it when you provide resources to make it easier for them to find what they’re looking for.
A little trickier, but extremely important to do is link-building. It’s about getting backlinks, that is, links on relevant websites (both in terms of domain authority and content affinity) pointing to your website in the most natural way possible. You can hire someone to help you with this or consider guest blogging and collaborations with other sites. Inviting others to your blog and vice versa is one way to grow your blog and increase its popularity.
There are many other SEO tips, but they get more complicated. This is a good place to start thinking of SEO to your blog.
Aside from optimizing the blog itself, there is one last thing we would suggest to increase traffic to your site – promotion. You can do this for a fee, with promotions on search platforms, the famous native ads, etc. However, if you want to do it more organically, social networks are a great tool for this. Twitter, LinkedIn, Facebook, Google+, Pinterest, among others can yield great sources of traffic.
Now the only question remains: do each of these 7 tactics work individually? Definitely. But if you want to increase traffic to your blog quickly, we suggest to combine them all.
